a scriptural testimony

Today I went to bible study/Wednesday night Worship service at a local church in Alexandria.  The commute is not the easiest, but it is always well worth it, and this evening was certainly no exception.

I arrived right on time to hear the pastor make several general announcements and begin with the testimony part of the program.  The structure of testimony was a bit different on this occasion.  Instead of sharing a particular event in our lives where the Lord has manifested his awesomeness in such a way that we feel compelled to share the good news with others; everyone shared their testimony in a form of a biblical verse.

I read one of my favorite psalms from the Old Testament.  And of course I wanted to share it with all of you…

1 O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.

2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

Psalms 139; New International Version

Passages evoke different emotions from each reader.  Every time I read this particular chapter I get goosebumps.

Why?  Because Psalms 139 encapsulates my relationship with God (as I understand it now, of course).

It is the literary summary of me acknowledging that despite the magnificence and grandeur that he is… I matter to him.

I am not simply a part of the masses but rather an individual he earnestly, genuinely and fervently cares about.  And that thought alone makes me feel rather special.
